Infrared grills
Even
though infrared grills are not a completely new technology, it is still
uncommon to find them. The fact is, not a lot of people know about them
and even fewer know anything about their history.
Bill Best, who is the founder of Thermal Electric Corp., developed a
technology in the 1960s that allowed auto workers a faster way to dry
paint on cars. This technology then evolved into being able to create
quicker infrared grills fro high-quality cooks and some wealthy consumers.
These items were sold to those who could afford them over the next few
decades until Best’s patent ran out in 2000. It was then that
other companies began to focus more on marketing these items to homeowners.
The one negative that presented itself is that the ceramic material
included with these grills could be very difficult to clean and were
also prone to producing sparks or , even worse, catching on fire.
Adjustments were made and now companies are marketing safer versions
of these infrared grills to those who are interested. While the ownership
among homeowners has increased since 2007, purchasing these items has
still been a concern for many homeowners since then simply because the
price is still a good deal more than most average weekend grillers can
afford.
