Infrared BBQs FAQs
How much does an infrared grill cost?
The easy answer to this question is, “It depends.” But,
that probably is not the answer you are looking for. Although up until
recently, these grills could cost up to $5,000, recent changes to make
them more consumer-friendly have helped drop the price considerably.
These grills now can be purchased for between $500-$1,000. The reason
for the $500 difference in prices depends largely on the size of the
grill and its heating capacity. The grills that are larger and used
in places like restaurants are likely to cost much more than $1,000.
What makes these grills better than a traditional
fuel-powered grill?
How much time do you have? The truth of the matter is there are many
things that make these grills better. However, for the sake of saving
time we’ll just discuss a couple of the main reasons.
The heat produced by these grills is one of those main reasons. These
grills operate between $450-$950 degrees, whereas typical grills usually
max out at around $750.
Another reason is the flexibility in adjusting the heat. While changing
the heat produced on a charcoal grill can take up to 20 minutes, the
processing time for heat adjustments for infrared grills is much, much
shorter.
How do infrared grills work?
These grills are propane-powered and actually feature traditional gas
burners that are able to heat the meat through convection. Convection,
for those who are unfamiliar with this term, is basically just hot air.
However, these grills are also available to cook foods with radiant
heat that is generated from infrared burners.
